According to their careers section they are searching for a Senior Software Engineer, Software Engineer, Product Manager, Associate Product Manager, Quality Assurance Tester and a Quality Assurance Translator. 11/09 Update: Good news! The Last Remnant and Star Ocean: The Last Hope will also be playable on the Tokyo Game Show. I have updated the list.

Previous week Square Enix has offered to buy Tecmo, the creators of the Dead or Alive series and Ninja Gaiden. It would be a friendly takeover to strengthen themselves against larger overseas companies. However today Tecmo has declined the offer. Reason they gave is that they want to merge with Koei instead to boost the coporate value.

At the Microsoft press conference Square Enix has also announced that The Last Remnant will be released on Xbox 360 worldwide at 20 November 2008. The game will also be released on PC. Yoichi Wada showed the addience a new short trailer of the game.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope will be released on the Xbox 360 at Spring 2009. No new details were announced during the press conference.

Infinite Undiscovery
is a Xbox 360 exclusive game and will be released in North America at 2 September, in Europe at 5 September and in Japan at 11 September.

Let's hope Sony also has some interesting news to tell us tomorrow.

Update: A new trailer with ingame footage of Star Ocean: The Last Hope has been released. You can watch it here.

Square Enix has announced their line-up for the coming E3 that will take place from 15 till 17 July in Los Angeles.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

The day has finally arrived, the release of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII across Europe and other PAL territories on the PlayStation Portable. Crisis Core is the prequel of Final Fantasy VII. You play as Zack, a 2nd Class SOLDIER who really wants to become 1st. On the way you meet familiar faces, like Yuffie, Cloud and of course Sephiroth.

While American Wii owners can play the game for a week now, the European Wii owners can now play it too, since the WiiWare service has been launched today. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King is now available for download for 1,500 Wii Points.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King is a city building game where you have to rebuild a kingdom from the ground.

Yoichi Wada, president of Square Enix, said that its considering taking stakes in game developers to combat rising competition from established game publishers. Square Enix is worried due to the recent news about take overs, like Electronic Arts, who wants to take over Take-Two.

"Economies of scale and breadth of scope are getting important. It may be a business alliance or it may be us taking a stake in others, but we need to go beyond traditional Square Enix. We face competition not only from Japanese videogame companies but from game companies worldwide. We also see some new players from outside the videogame industry coming in."

Wada also said he aims to boost the ratio of overseas videogame software sales among its total game software revenues to 80% in three years from about 50% now.

Last week Square Enix has won a lawsuit in South Korea against Fantom Entertainment Group and Mr. Hong Jeong-ho and ordered them to pay damages of 300 Million Korean Won (around $300,000 USD / €200,000 EUR) for infringing Square Enix’s copyright. The company used portions from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children in the music video from Ivy’s Yuhok ui Sonata (Sonata of Temptation) without asking permission from Square Enix. This includes the modification and adaptation of scenes into live-action shots, and the commercial appropriation of these live-action shots.
