Final Fantasy XII

On the American gameshow G4 a Final Fantasy XII trailer has been shown with English voices. The trailer has been recorded with a digicam from TV, so don't expect big quality. It's more about the voices.

Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII

Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of Square Enix™ interactive products in North America, recently announced the newest installment of the FINAL FANTASY® VII series, DIRGE of CERBERUS™ LOST EPISODE -FINAL FANTASY VII-, to be available for mobile phones.

DIRGE of CERBERUS LOST EPISODE -FINAL FANTASY VII- takes place three years after Meteorfall that transpired at the end of the original FINAL FANTASY VII. As Vincent Valentine, players struggle to save the world from the evil Deepground Soldiers, an elite squad of bloodthirsty soldiers set on destroying humanity. This title will take advantage of all mobile gaming has to offer, allowing players to explore a sprawling world in Battlefield mode, and battle the Deepground Soldiers in an action shooter mode. Familiar features from FINAL FANTASY VII, such as Materia and Limit Break attacks, can also be utilized by Vincent to smash his foes.

"We are pleased to be continuing the saga of FINAL FANTASY VII with DIRGE of CERBERUS LOST EPISODE," said Kosei Ito, Mobile Producer, Square Enix Co., Ltd. "The exciting mobile gaming platform is the perfect arena to add to the story of one of video gaming's most celebrated titles ever."

Final Fantasy VII

In the recent issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly the magazine made a comment in their PS3 section about the classic RPG Final Fantasy VII.

"Last year, Square Enix teased everyone with what was called the "FFVII PS3 demo," the article states. "Well, what do you know? This test case was really a sneak peek at a next-gen revival of the PS1 role-playing hit."

Everywhere on the net things were placed like "FF7 Remake Confirmed!", but when IGN asked Square Enix more about this they stated this:
"Since the FINAL FANTASY VII tech demo at E3 2005, there have been a lot of rumors about the presentation hinting at an actual remake. While the June 2006 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly confirms the remake for release in 2007, Square Enix has never stated this.

We have however confirmed that development has begun for Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII on PlayStation 3. These titles are part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Project which also includes a mobile game titled FINAL FANTASY Agito XIII."

Now it's not that the game never will be made, it is just not the time for it yet.

Final Fantasy XIII

Square Enix has announced in a presentation that the Fabula Nova Crystallis - Final Fantasy XIII project will consist of 6 games next to Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII.

Rumors are that Final Fantasy Haeresis XIII will be the next game. The game hasn't been officially announced yet, but Square Enix trademarked the name in the US begin this month.

According to Yoichi Wada, the president of Square Enix, the Fabula Nova Crystallis project will take 10 years, just like the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII project.

Sony

Yesterday Sony held his E3 press conference and announced that the PlayStation 3 will be available in Japan on November 11 and in America and Europe on November 17th.

The console will be available in two models. One with a 20 GB HDD, which will not have a WiFi IEEE 802.11 b/g connection, a memory slot for SD/Compact Flash/Memory Stick and HDMI-exit. This one will have a price card of $499 / €499. The other model will have a 60 GB HDD and will have all the things that are not in the 20 GB model. The advanced model will have a price card of $549 / €599.

The controller has been changed back to the old PS2 controller, but with improvements of course. First the controller is wireless, which is actually a must. Second the controller has motion-sensing capabilities, the controller can be turned in six degrees of movement. Due to this new feature they had to get rid of the Dual Shock feature.

Final Fantasy XIII

Earlier today Square Enix had given a pre-E3 conference and released much info about their upcoming games.

- Final Fantasy XII will be released in the USA in October 2006.
- Final Fantasy XIII has been announced for the PS3. The game was first made by the Final Fantasy X team for the PS2. But after the Final Fantasy VII tech demo on last years E3, they were so happy with the hardware and decided to make it for the PS3.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be made by the Kingdom Hearts team and will feature "extreme action elements." Final Fantasy XIII will also be made for the mobile phone.
- Final Fantasy V (GBA), Final Fantasy VI (GBA), Children of Mana (NDS) en Dawn of Mana (jap. 'Seiken Densetsu 4' ) (PS2) has been confirmed for release in the USA, but without a release date.
- Valkyrie Profile (PSP) will be released in the USA on July 18th, 2006.
- Valkyrie Profile 2 (PS2), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (NDS) and Final Fantasy III (NDS) will be released in the USA in September 2006.
- Two new games in the Crystal Chronicles series will be made. One for the NDS and the other for Nintendo Wii.
- Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors will be made for Nintendo Wii.

That's all right now. I'll update the site tomorrow with hopefully more Final Fantasy XIII screenshots and more news about this weird step Square made.
