Distant World: music from Final Fantasy

Distant Word: music from Final Fantasy is an official symphony concert world-tour commemorating the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy. During a 2 hour concert in cooperation with AWR Music Productions music from composer Nobuo Uematsu will be featured.

The premiere performance will be in Stockholm, Sweden at 4 December by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and Allmänna Sången. The 2nd concert will be on 1 March 2008 in Chicago, United States.

The concert program (not listed in performance order, subject to change):
- Final Fantasy series: Main Theme, Swing de Chocobo
- Final Fantasy I-III: Medley
- Final Fantasy III DS: Opening
- Final Fantasy IV: Theme of Love
- Final Fantasy V: Dear Friends
- Final Fantasy VI: Opera "Maria and Draco"
- Final Fantasy VII: One-Winged Angel, Opening - Bombing Mission, Aerith's Theme
- Final Fantasy VIII: Liberi Fatali, Fisherman's Horizon, Love Grows, Don't be Afraid

- Final Fantasy XI: Memoro de la Stono - Distant Worlds

Together with the premiere this Tuesday the CD Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy will be released. The CD will be available for purchase at the concert venues. Here's the tracklist:

Square Enix will release Odin Sphere in Europe

Square Enix announced today that they will release the 2D fantasy action RPG Odin Sphere for the PlayStation 2 in Europe in early 2008. Since the game is from Atlus, its the first non Square Enix title to be released in Europe.

Be inspired by the renaissance of the lost art of hand-drawn in-game artwork. Odin Sphere brings a lavishly illustrated world to a home console, experienced through an intuitive, high quality control system. Odin Sphere’s fantasy world interlaces five individual tales to tell an epic story of amazing power, inevitable loss and irresistible love to enchant users.

Lord of Vermilion revealed!

The first signs of Square Enix's newest project, Lord of Vermilion, has been revealed! Its a card game for the Japanese arcade and PlayStation 3. The game uses physical cards with creatures from various Square Enix games that you can place on the battle field. You can check some screenshots of the game, some cards and artwork on Famitsu. Square Enix also opened the website about the game, which you can find here.

Final Fantasy title for Wii Ware

Today Nintendo announced the games that will be available for their new service Wii Ware and a Final Fantasy was announced for it. The game is called Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Young King and the Promised Land (damn long title) and in it you have to build your own land and rule over it. Wii Ware will launch in Japan in March 2008. This game will be available for 1500 Wii Points. Check Famitsu for screenshots. » Official website

FF Tactics: The War of the Lions released in Europe!

Today Square Enix has released Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions for the PlayStation Portable in Europe! Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions is a remake of the original Final Fantasy Tactics that was released in 1997 on the PlayStation and is now finally playable for European fans.

The remake features new cel-shaded cutscenes, 2 new classes (Onion Knight and Dark Knight), new characters (like Balthier and Luso) and new episodes.

The game will be released in North America next Tuesday.

Its just some hours away till the grand opening of the Square Enix Online Shop for the United States. In the Square Enix Online Shop you can buy Square Enix merchandise like figurines, models, jewelry and accessories from series like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and Dragon Quest.

So if you are a hardcore Final Fantasy fan and want more then just the games, go and buy some Final Fantasy merchandise in their shop!

FFCC: Ring of Fates Japanese commercials

Only one week till Square Enix will release their new game in the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles saga: Ring of Fates on 23 August. To promote the game they have started airing two commercials on Japanese television featuring the main theme of the game and showing various scenes. Here are the links of the 2 commercials.

Remake Dragon Quest IV, V & VI

In the latest Jump magazine Square Enix has announced that they will remake Dragon Quest IV (Famicon), V & VI (both Super Famicon) for the Nintendo DS.

Dragon Quest IV will be released in Japan this Winter. Other release dates are unknown.

Square Enix Lineup E3 2007

Today Square Enix has announced their lineup for the E3 Media & Business Summit that will take place on July 11 - 13. The following games will be playable for the press only:

- Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker (Nintendo DS)
- Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors (Wii)
- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates (Nintendo DS)
- Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions (PlayStation Portable)
- Final Fantasy II (PlayStation Portable)
- Final Fantasy XI: Wings of the Goddess (PlayStation 2, PC, Xbox 360)

There were rumors that Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII will not be playable on the E3 and its now has been confirmed.
The mech strategy game Front Mission will be playable for the first time in English.
