At Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 Naoki Hamaguchi, game director of Final Fantasy VII Revelation, was on stage to reveal a new trailer of the game titled The Planet's Crisis Trailer. In the trailer Rufus Shinra addresses the citizens of Midgar about the threat of Meteor and the WEAPON's that have been released by the planet to protect it.

Unfortunately, that was the only news he came to bring us.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be released in Spring 2027 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and XBOX PC.

Hayden Panettiere, voice of Kairi, passed away at age of 36

Hayden Panettiere, the original voice of Kairi in Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and Xion in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance has passed away at the age of 36.

Nothing is known about her cause of death. Skip Panettiere, the father of Hayden has asked for privacy.

"It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her -- and to the millions who watched her onscreen."

New Kingdom Hearts IV D23 trailer

During D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, that is taking place 14, 15 and 16 August in Anaheim Convention Center, Disney and Square Enix have revealed a new trailer of Kingdom Hearts IV.

In the trailer a new world is revealed; the world of Coco, an animated film by Pixar that is inspired on the Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday.

Kingdom Hearts IV will be released late 2027 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S and PC . You can watch the D23 2026 Showcase Trailer here.

Tonight at 01:30 CEST (16:30 PT / 19:30 ET / 00:30 BST) the Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts event will be held at D23 which will be also be streamed live on YouTube.

Square Enix has confirmed on social media that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be shown at Gamescom Opening Night Live on 25 August 2026 at 20:00 CEST (11:00 PT / 13:00 ET / 19:00 BST). Naoki Hamaguchi, game director of Final Fantasy VII Revelation, will also join the stage. The show is hosted by Geoff Keighley.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is the third and final episode of the remake of Final Fantasy VII. Cloud Strife and his loyal companions face a world that teeters on the brink of annihilation. Grieving a beloved ally, and with their nemesis Sephiroth nearing godhood, the party takes to the skies aboard the airship Highwind in a race against time to stop Meteor, the ultimate destructive magic, and the total obliteration of the planet.

Final Fantasy XIV Online now available on Nintendo Switch 2

Today Square Enix has released the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy XIV Online. You can choose between three editions: Starter Edition, Complete Edition and Complete Collector’s Edition. To ensure server stability, there will be an one-month free subscription period on Nintendo Switch 2.

Final Fantasy XIV Online Nintendo Switch 2 version

Final Fantasy XIV is an MMORPG and was released back in 2010. However the original version was badly received and resulted in a change of development team. In 2013 Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (first known as Final Fantasy XIV: Version 2.0) was released. Later five major expansion packs have been released: Heavensward (2015), Stormblood (2017), Shadowbringers (2019), Endwalker (2021) and Dawntrail (2024). The sixth expansion Evercold is scheduled to be released in January 2027.
