Square Enix has released Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition today on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and iOS and Android devices. For the physical media collectors (like me), sadly outside of Japan this game is digital only.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was originally released on the Nintendo GameCube back in 2003 and follows a young group, known as the Crystal Caravans, as they embark on an epic journey to search for myrrh, a precious and rare liquid needed to cleanse and maintain a crystal protecting their world from the deadly gas, miasma.

In the original game up to 4 players could join a local gameplay session which required connecting a Game Boy Advance with the GameCube. In the Remastered Edition online multiplayer is available with cross platform support. Please note that on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch you need a paid subscription to their online services.

It is possibly to play a trail version of the game called Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition Lite. In this free version you can play the first three dungeons, take part in online cross-play in these dungeons or join a player who has purchased the full game to play up to 13 dungeons.
