Earlier this year during the Dragon Quest 35th anniversary livestream Square Enix has announced Dragon Quest X Offline, an offline version of Dragon Quest X Online. During the Tokyo Game Show 2021 special about Dragon Quest X Offline, Square Enix has announced the release date.

Dragon Quest X Offline will be released on 22 February 2022 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Still there are no plans to release the game outside of Japan.

Square Enix has announced a brand new IP during Square Enix Presents Tokyo Game Show 2021 called Dungeon Encounters, a single-player dungeon explorarion RPG.

An otherworldly labyrinth has suddenly appeared on the outskirts of a quiet town. Make clever use of your abilities to chart the depths, overcome obstacles and defeat your foes in thrilling battles! During your expeditions, you'll discover rare and powerful items, meet lost adventurers who might just become new allies, and come face-to-face with deadly monsters. Do you have what it takes to overcome the numerous trials that await you and discover the dungeon's secrets?

The game is directed by Hiroyuki Ito, the creator of the Active Time Battle system in the Final Fantasy series. The producer is Hiroaki Kato (Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age). The characters are designed by Ryoma Ito and the soundtrack by Final Fantasy veteran Nobuo Uematsu.

Dungeon Encounters will be released digitally on 14 October 2021 on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Steam. The official website can be found here and below you can view the announcement trailer.

Square Enix has announced that they will release Bravely Default II on Steam on 2 September 2021. The game was previously exclusive to the Nintendo Switch and was released on 26 February 2021. So far the game has sold more than 950,000 units (shipped and downloads).

Bravely Default II follows the adventures of four unlikely heroes, Seth, Gloria, Elvis, and Adelle, as they set out across the land of Excillant in search of four elemental crystals.

The Steam version will feature English and Japanese audio, and English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese text. Fans can save 10% by purchasing it on Steam till 13 September 2021.

Square Enix has announced that the pixel remaster version of Final Fantasy IV will be released on 8 September 2021 on Steam, Android and iOS devices.

This version will feature the following improvements compared to the original version:

  • Universally updated 2D pixel graphics redrawn for modern hardware, featuring iconic Final Fantasy character pixel designs created by the original artist and current collaborator, Kazuko Shibuya
  • Beautifully rearranged soundtracks, overseen by the original composer, Nobuo Uematsu
  • Improved gameplay, including updated controller controls, modernized UI, auto-battle options and more
  • Quality-of-life improvements including supplemental extras like the bestiary, illustration gallery, music player and the ability to save at any time

Steam users can now pre-order the game with 20% off and during that time you'll receive three specially rearranged music tracks and two limited wallpapers. You can also get the bundle which contains all 6 games with the bonus items. Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI will be added when they're available.

Final Fantasy III

The first three games in the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series (Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II and Final Fantasy III) are now available on PC via Steam and mobile devices. The other 3 classic titles, Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI, will follow at a later date this year.

These versions contains the following upgrades:

If you purchase Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II or Final Fantasy III by 11 August 2021 you'll receive a small music bonus, a couple of wallpapers and a 20% discount per title. You can also purchase a bundle which features all 6 games at a higher discount on Steam.

With this release the old versions of Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI have been de-listed from Steam. On mobile platform Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI have been de-listed. Players who purchased the games can still download and play them. However the versions will not be updated anymore.

Square Enix has announced that the first three Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster titles are now available for pre-purchase on Steam individually or as a bundle, and will launch on 28 July 2021. One day later the first three Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster titles will also be released on mobile platforms. The other three titles will follow later this year.

The Steam pages for the six Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster titles are online. The first three titles are on sale 20% off till 11 August 2021 and if you pre-purchase them you'll receive a small music bonus and a couple of wallpapers. Below you can view the screenshots and the link to the Steam pages.

The old Steam versions of Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI will be delisted on 27 July 2021. On Google Play all old versions will be delisted on 28 July 2021.

Earlier today Square Enix streamed Square Enix Presents Summer Showcase. During the stream the company announced that the first six games in the Final Fantasy series will be remastered for Steam and mobile platforms.

The series will be known as the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series and the six games will be released individually. Only a teaser was revealed showing some footage from the remastered games.

NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139..., the updated version of the Japan exclusive game NieR Replicant, is now available worldwide for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam.

NieR Replicant was originally released on 22 April 2010 in Japan for PlayStation 3 together with NieR Gestalt. In the West NieR Gestalt was released as Nier. Both games have a different storyline but takes place in the same world. NieR Replicant never got a release in the West untill now.

This updated version includes brand-new story content, extra dungeons, costumes and more, including:

  • Extra Episode – Players can enjoy a new scenario and exhilarating boss battle by playing through the game, in an all new “Mermaid” episode featuring a wrecked ship and a little girl.
  • Extra Dungeons from “15 Nightmares” – Previously released as downloadable content for the original release in Japan and similar to “The World of Recycled Vessel” content in the West, fans will be able to undertake a series of challenging dungeons as the “15 Nightmares” protagonist in the world of recycled vessel. Playing through the dungeons will unlock a variety of weapons, as well as extra costumes, “Kabuki” and “Samurai.” You will also be able to change the appearance of enemy bullets to Emil’s face through the option menu after obtaining either of the costumes.
  • Soundtrack from NieR:Automata – Players will unlock an option to switch to select background music tracks from the critically acclaimed NieR:Automata after completing the first playthrough.
  • Guest Cast from NieR:Automata – The English and Japanese voice actors of 2B and 9S will be featured in the game.

The protagonist is a kind young man living in a remote village. In order to save his sister Yonah, who fell terminally ill to the Black Scrawl, he sets out with Grimoire Weiss, a strange talking tome, to search for the "Sealed verses."

Earlier this week during Nintendo Direct a remastered version has been announced of Legend of Mana that will be released on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Steam.

Stepping into the shoes of the protagonist, players will embark on a journey to find the mystical Mana Tree seen in a dream, only to discover that the world map is empty. Throughout their adventure, they will acquire special artifacts, which can be placed on the map to bring towns and dungeons to life via the Land Creation system. Players can progress through the story in different ways based on the choices they make, offering a more personal and unique gameplay experience.

Legend of Mana has been released in Japan in July 1999 on the PlayStation. In June 2000 the game was released in North America. It was never released in Europe.

The remastered version will feature improved visuals, a rearranged soundtrack, and the “Ring Ring Land'' mini-game which will be available to the West for the first time. It will be available digital only on 24 June 2021.

During the pre-show of The Game Awards 2020 a new trailer of NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... has been revealed.

The trailer below shows almost one minute of battle gameplay footage of this updated game of NieR Replicant, which was never released outside of Japan.

NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... will be released on 22 April 2021 in Japan and in North America and Europe on 23 April 2021. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam.
