Kingdom Hearts III

Earlier this week Tetsuya Nomura, director of Kingdom Hearts III, has announced that the long-awaited Critical Mode will be arriving soon in a free update.

As of yesterday Critical Mode is available in update 1.04 along side several other updates to the game. Also update 1.05 was released bringing the option to carry Keyblades over when selecting New Game.

Version 1.04

  • A new game mode (Critical Mode) with new abilities has been added.
  • Some enemy mechanics have been adjusted.
  • Treasures obtained in the Frozen Slider minigame now appear in the Summary screen and can also be viewed in the Gummiphone.
  • A check mark now appears next to items in the Workshop menu that have already been synthesized.
  • New Game Help text and other various messages have been added.
  • Various issues have been fixed.
  • New save data will be created upon installing this version.

Version 1.05

  • Keyblades and other elements from clear data can now be carried over when selecting New Game to replay the game.
  • A maximum of 200 photos can now be saved.
  • Various issues have been fixed.

Final Fantasy XV

The Final Fantasy XV journey has been concluded with the release of Episode Ardyn. For the first time, players take control of Noctis's greatest foe Ardyn Lucis Caelum with a brand new storyline taking place 35 years before the events of Final Fantasy XV and learn what drove the scorned savior to seek revenge against the line of Lucis.

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ardyn features:

  • Several new options and gameplay mechanics to explore, including the ability to control Ardyn himself
  • Exhilarating, action-packed battles where players can utilize powerful new attack moves and skills unique to Ardyn, including the “Rising Phantom” and “Dark Tornado”
  • The ability to warp to high platforms or across nearby buildings by way of “Phantasmal Leap”
  • Though a foe of Noctis, the summonable Ifrit is now an ally of Ardyn and may dispatch enemies with powerful fire magic

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ardyn is now available for $ 9.99 / € 9.99 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. You can dive deeper into Ardyn’s mysterious, forbidden past in Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ardyn - Prologue, a short anime movie that offers a deeper understanding of the game’s world view and story.

Recently Square Enix announced that Dissidia Final Fantasy NT will be getting a free version called Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Edition and that this version together with the full version will be released on Steam. Now they're available on PlayStation 4 and Steam.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Edition is a limited version which contains no story mode. You can battle online (against other players of the free and full version) and offline with 4 characters, who change weekly. If you want to keep a character unlocked, you can buy a character starter pack. Please note that if you want to play online on the PlayStation 4, you need an active PlayStation Plus membership.

If you want to play the story and gain access to 28 characters, you need to buy the Standard Edition. The Deluxe Edition contains 6 additional characters, costumes and weapons.

Square Enix has announced in a press release that Kingdom Hearts III has shipped more than 5 million units globally, both physical and digital, across all platform since it's release on 29 January. This makes Kingdom Hearts III the fatest selling game in the history of the Kingdom Hearts series.

The shipment and digital sales numbers for the long-awaited installment in the blockbuster franchise have been matched with critical adoration. Media across the world are lauding KINGDOM HEARTS III for its breathtaking visuals and widespread appeal to newcomers and series veterans alike, with Bleacher Report praising that the adventure is “accessible for even the most casual of gamers” and “a sheer thrill to take in,” and CNET raving that KINGDOM HEARTS III is “the best looking Kingdom Hearts game.”

Kingdom Hearts III ships 5 million units worldwide

Kingdom Hearts III, the long awaited installment in the beloved action role-playing game series, is now available worldwide for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One! The game has been received very well, scoring an 88 for the PlayStation 4 and an 80 for the Xbox One version on Metacritic at the moment.

Tetsuya Nomura, director of the Kingdom Hearts series, had the following to say:

I am thrilled that Kingdom Hearts III is now officially out. There are many mysteries in the story, so players will want to take their time so that they don’t miss anything. The adventure lies within the journey, and not just the destination. This story marks one of the greatest experiences Sora will have with his friends, so I hope that the players enjoy it. To all of our fans around the world, thank you for eagerly awaiting this day.

In The Netherlands the game is already available in most stores since Saturday. If you don't have it yet, go and buy the game! My shipment didn't arrive today, so hopefully it's here tomorrow.

Kingdom Hearts III

More than a month before the release of Kingdom Hearts III someone got his/her hands on a copy of the game and gameplay footage has been leaked on the internet. Gameplay video's appeared on YouTube, but have been removed. The community has been is doing its best to avoid spoilers.

Square Enix has confirmed the recent leaks and Tetsuya Nomura, the director of Kingdom Hearts III has released a statement:

We're aware that a small portion of KINGDOM HEARTS III has been circulating online before its official release. We are also aware as to how this has all happened. We're sorry to see this caused concern amongst our fans who are excited for the release.

The whole team has been working together since yesterday night (Japan time) to investigate what we can do to better this situation, but first we would like to ask that you do not share these videos.

The game's epilogue and secret movie, which are the biggest spoilers in this game, are planned to be released at a later date just in case, so they will not be shown before the game's release.

We want everyone to be able to equally experience the full game after its release, so we ask for your continued support on this matter.

We're also very grateful that our fans have been warning each other already about the spoilers. Thank you very much.

Kingdom Hearts III

Today Tetsuya Nomura, the director of Kingdom Hearts III, has announced via social media that Kingdom Hearts III has gone gold! This means that the development has finished. Also the Together trailer, an extended version of the trailer that's been playing in American cinemas, has been revealed.

Today, I'm proud to unveil an extended version of the trailer that's been playing in American cinemas. And guess what? We've wrapped up development of the game.

Kingdom Hearts III will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 25 January 2019 in Japan and 29 January 2019 worldwide.

World of Final Fantasy Maxima, the enchanced version of World of Final Fantasy released back in 2016, is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam.

World of Final Fantasy Maxima features an all-new Avatar Change system that allows players to add fan-favorite Final Fantasy champions — including Cloud, Yuna, Noctis and more — into their stacks to create more powerful and strategic battle options than ever before. The game also features new legendary characters and Mirages (monsters), side-quests, boss battles, mini-games, and a challenging new Nightmare difficulty mode.

If you want a physical version of World of Final Fantasy Maxima, it is only available for Xbox One. The digital version is available for Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. On PlayStation 4 and Steam the new content is available as downloadable content (DLC).

The Last Remnant

Last week The Last Remnant was removed from the Steam store without any reason. However today Square Enix has announced that The Last Remnant will be released on the PlayStation 4 as The Last Remnant Remastered.

The Last Remnant was originally released on the Xbox 360 back in 2008, almost 10 years ago, and is a turn-based RPG using Unreal Engine 3. The players controls Rush Sykes who is searching for his sister, who has been kidnapped by a mysterious organization during the war. The game received a mixed reception. The battle system was praised for being unique, massive-scale battles. Only the game had some technical issues.

In 2009 the game was ported to the PC. The PlayStation 3 version was also announced, but has been cancelled due to internal factors.

The PlayStation 4 version will not contain new content. All the features from the PC version will be present and also high-speed movement in the field will be available. The engine will be updated to Unreal Engine 4.

The Last Remnant Remastered will be released worldwide on 6 December 2018 for $20 / £16 / €20. Japan will receive a physical release, while North America and Europe only digital.

Square Enix has announced on Twitter that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles will be released on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in 2019 as Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was originally released on the Nintendo GameCube back in 2003 and was the first Final Fantasy title released for a Nintendo console after Final Fantasy VI in 1994 for the Super Nintendo. This action RPG follows the story of a group adventurers traveling the world searching for rare trees which produce myrrh, used to fuel crystals protecting the world's settlements from the poisonous Miasma. The game also features a multiplayer option that allows up to 4 players join a local session that relies on the Game Boy Advance connected to the GameCube with a link cable.
