According to Gematsu.com Square Enix is planning to launch Final Fantasy XV worldwide on Friday 30 September 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This information was corroborated by three independent sources who would have knowledge of the matter. According to the website the release on this day will be very likely, however given sensitivity of the matter, and that within a company setting anything can change before it is made public, they're reporting it as a rumor.

The release date will be officially announced at Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV, an event taking place on 30 March at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Final Fantasy XV was first announced as Final Fantasy Versus XIII on E3 2006 exclusively for PlayStation 3. On E3 2013 it was revealed as Final Fantasy XV.

Earlier today the 7th Final Fantasy XV Active Time Report was broadcasted. This time it was no live broadcast, but recorded a week earlier. The last Active Time Report took place during the Tokyo Game Show 2015 in September.

In this Active Time Report they've shown the 2nd Progress Report, which will likely be the last, since the game is in an advance state of development. Next they went into detail on the Niflheim Empire showing characters were some play an important part in the story. Also new battle footage was shown where the gang is infiltrating a Niflheim Base. Some noticed that the first part of the gameplay footage was sneaking (like in Metal Gear Solid) and than hell brake lose!

Last item on the broadcast was the special event taking place in March. It's called Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV and will take place on 30 March 2016, 19:00 PST at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Tickets will be available on 5 February for free and can be ordered on the official website. During this special event the release date will be announced and more details about the tech demo will be revealed.

During the Final Fantasy XV Active Time Report that took place yesterday at PAX Prime 2015 director Hajime Tabata announced that Final Fantasy XV will be released in 2016. An exact release date will be announced at a special event that will be held in March 2016.

In this Active Time Report new concept art and in-game footage was showed and a new Active Time Report exclusive was revealed called the Final Fantasy XV Progress Report (Vol. 1). In this progress reports various features of the game are shown which are currently in development.

Earlier today the 7th Final Fantasy XV Active Time Report was streamed live at gamescom 2015. A lot of speculation was going around that they we're going to announce the release date, but this wasn't the case. The team has already decided when it will be released, but it will remain a secret for now.

During the stream Hajime Tabata went into some detail about the new trailer that was revealed this morning and releasing some more detail about how the story of the game begins. Also six questions from fans were answered and a short gameplay footage was shown. In case you missed the broadcast, you can watch it back below.

The next Active Time Report will take place during Pax Prime (28 till 31 August in Seattle). Another one will also be held during the Tokyo Game Show (17 till 20 September).

Today gamescom 2015 in Cologne (Germany) has opened its doors and Square Enix has revealed a new trailer of Final Fantasy XV. In the trailer that is called "DAWN" the introduction to the story of Final Fantasy XV is shown.

During Active Time Report page 6.0, that was streamed this afternoon, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata announced that Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae 2.0 patch will be available for download in the West next Tuesday 9 June.

This patch will feature graphical enhancements, more interactions and improvements to the framerate. These are a couple of reasons that the release of this patch was delayed several weeks. Japan will receive the patch tomorrow.

Recently it was announced by Square Enix on Twitter that version 2.0 of  was delayed till the start of June. More recently they've announced the time when the next Active Time Report will be streamed.

What will be shown during Active Time Report Page 6.0 has not been said, but likely we might get a look at some of the improvements of version 2.0 of Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae.

The stream can be viewed here and will go live on 4 June at 22:00 hours JST. That's 09:00 EST / 06:00 PST in the United States and 15:00 CEST in most countries in Europe.

Square Enix is developing an update to the Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae demo that was released in March together with Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. This has been announced during a special Active Time Report, where the feedback of the survey that Square Enix opened for everyone who has played the demo was discussed.

The update, which is called Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae 2.0, is aimed to be released mid-to-late May and will feature the following updates:

  • AXB (Active Cross Battle) enhancements (possibly including more combo attacks and a dodge roll);
  • Camera and targeting system enhancements;
  • Additional combat actions/balancing and bug fixes;
  • Increased range of actions for each weapon;
  • MP recovery and usage tweaks;
  • Titan bug fix.

Square Enix has also announced that Final Fantasy XV will not have a major presence at E3, but the next major reveal will be at gamescom in August 2015.

Final Fantasy XV

Square Enix has revealed new footage of Final Fantasy XV on the recently held Taipei Game Show in Taiwan. In the video footage (which was recorded with a cam) you can see that you can take control of a cat and explore the railway station (which is still a work in progress).

But before showing the footage, Hajime Tabata announced that XPEC Entertainment, a Taiwanese publisher and developer is one of the many companies that will help Square Enix to develop Final Fantasy XV.

On the official Final Fantasy Facebook page Square Enix has revealed today the Tokyo Game Show 2014 trailer of Final Fantasy XV from a few months ago with English voices.
