Octopath Traveler II announced

During the latest Nintendo Direct Square Enix has announced Octopath Traveler II, the next entry in the Octopath Traveler series. The game will be released on 24 February 2023 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.

The first Octopath Traveler was released in 2018 on the Nintendo Switch. This RPG features a turn-based battle system and HD-2D visuals, a striking blend of retro 2D characters in a beautiful 3D world. The player starts the game by choosing one of the eight adventurers as the protagonist. Later the game was released on PC, Stadia and Xbox One and sold over 3 million copies.

Just like the first game, the trailer features eight new travelers: Hikari (Warrior), Agnea (Dancer), Partitio (Merchant), Osvald (Scholar), Throné (Thief), Temenos (Cleric), Ochette (Hunter), and Castti (Apothecary). A new gameplay feature is the day and night cycle, which will change the townscapes and Path Actions available to each character.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade now available on Steam

During the Final Fantasy VII 25th Anniversary Celebration that was streamed last night Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be available on Steam on 17 July 2022, which is today, making it no longer exclusive on Epic Games Store for PC gamers. The game is fully compatible with the Steam Deck.

During Sony's latest State of Play Square Enix has revealed a brand-new strategy RPG titled The DioField Chronicle. The game is developed by Platinum Games and will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC/Steam in 2022.

Welcome to the world of DioField, a new strategy RPG that will take you on a journey of honour and political intrigue. In this fresh and gritty story, you will discover a unique blend of fantasy, medieval and modern-day influences, and an innovative combat system: Real-Time Tactical Battle. Forspoken delayed to 11 October 2022

Luminous Productions, the developers of Forspoken, and Square Enix have announced that the game has been delayed the open-world action RPG which was previously planned to be released on 24 May 2022. The new release date will be 11 October 2022.

We have made the decision to move the release date of Forspoken to October 11, 2022. Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to use. To that end, during the next few months we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game and can’t wait for you to experience Frey’s journey this fall.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade coming to PC

During The Game Awards 2021 Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be released on PC through the Epic Games Store on 16 December 2021 making it no longer an exclusive for the PlayStation 4 and 5.

With improved textures, lighting, background environments, a fully customizable “Photo Mode,” and more, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for PC also features 4K support, HDR support, XInput and DirectInput compliant controller support, keyboard and mouse support, plus the highest spec PCs could see a performance of up to 120 frames per second.

Compensation Final Fantasy XIV players for congestion situation

Square Enix has apologized to the community of Final Fantasy XIV for the current congestion situation due to the start of early access for the Endwalker expansion on 3 December and will compensate everyone with free game time.

On The Lodestone, Naoki Yoshida, producer and director of Final Fantasy XIV, said the following:

Currently, all Worlds across all regions have been hitting the login cap for extremely long periods of time, and the progression of login queues is being slowed dramatically. Across the FFXIV service as a whole, the number of simultaneous logins has reached the hardware limit, and as a result, logging in has required an extremely long time, especially during “peak hours” when we tend to see increased player activity. For this, I am truly sorry.

All players who own the full version of the game and have an active subscription will be granted 7 days of free game time during the official release of Endwalker on 7 December. This also includes players who are currently playing on the 30-day free play period included when registering the full version of the game and those with multiple accounts.

Additional free game time will be announced at a later date if the congestion situation still persists.

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker will be released on 7 December (today) after being delayed for two weeks and is the fourth expansion (after Heavensward, Stormblood and Shadowbringers).

Star Ocean: The Divine Force announced

During Sony's State of Play Square Enix has revealed a new game in the Star Ocean series: Star Ocean: The Divine Force. The game will be developed by tri-Ace and will be released in 2022 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X and PC.

Meet Raymond as he crashes onto an unfamiliar planet from his spaceship and is immediately attacked by some unfriendly local wildlife. Coming to his rescue is Laeticia, the crown princess of the Kingdom of Aucerius.

Together, those two protagonists will challenge the fate of the Kingdom and their choices will have repercussions all over the galaxies...

Dragon Quest X Offline Japan release date

Earlier this year during the Dragon Quest 35th anniversary livestream Square Enix has announced Dragon Quest X Offline, an offline version of Dragon Quest X Online. During the Tokyo Game Show 2021 special about Dragon Quest X Offline, Square Enix has announced the release date.

Dragon Quest X Offline will be released on 22 February 2022 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Still there are no plans to release the game outside of Japan.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin release date and new demo

During the Square Enix Presents Tokyo Game Show 2021 livestream Square Enix has announced that Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will be released on 18 March 2022 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC via the Epic Games Store. This action RPG is currently in developed in collaboration with Team Ninja, creators of Ninja Gaiden and Nioh.

Join Jack and his allies as they throw open the gates to the Chaos Shrine and step into a world of dark fantasy and exhilarating battles to discover if they are truly the Warriors of Light the prophecy foretold.

During the livestream Square Enix also announced the release of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Trial Version 2, an expansion of the first trial that was released in June. Players can explore an additional stage of the game, the Refrin Wetlands, alongside a new ally, experience new playstyles in battle with the addition of multiple new jobs, and fight against an array of new enemies. This will also be the first opportunity for players to sample the game’s multiplayer function.

Forspoken introduction trailer revealed

During the PlayStation Showcase 2021 a new trailer has been revealed of Forspoken. Also it has been announced that the game will be releeased in Spring 2022.

In the introduction trailer Frey Holland is mysteriously taken from New York and trapped in the ancient land of Athia with a magical sentient bracelet on her arm. Her new, cynical companion "Cuff" helps Frey navigate the vast landscapes of Athia. Searching for a way home, Frey must battle monstrous creatures, take on the mighty Tantas, and unravel secrets that awaken many more from within.

Forspoken is an action RPG developed by Luminous Productions and will be released on PlayStation 5 and PC.
