Square Enix has announced that the Kingdom Hearts series is coming to Steam on 13 June 2024. This makes the PC versions of the Kingdom Hearts games no longer exclusive to Epic Games.

The Kingdom Hearts series consist of 3 collections: Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC). New to the Steam version of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX collection are textural updates to its graphics. Users who purchase Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC)) will also receive the new platform exclusive Keyblade “Dead of Night.”

In the lead up to the 20th anniversary of the Kingdom Hearts series in 2022 Square Enix has announced that 10 Kingdom Hearts titles will make their debut on the Nintendo Switch. They will be released as three standalone cloud releases: Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX Cloud Version, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Cloud Version and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC) Cloud Version.

During Paris Games Week 2016 Square Enix and Disney have announced that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX will be re-released as Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX on PlayStation 4 on 31 March 2017.

Kingdom Hearts II

With only less than a month away till Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX (the HD versions of Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded) will be released in North America and Europe, Square Enix has announced this week that it will get a collector's editon.

This collector's editon will contain the following items:

  • Shadow Heartsless Plush Toy (24 cm);
  • 30 Page hardcover artbook;
  • Steelbook case (with both Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX);
  • Exclusive Disney collectible pin.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX collector's editon

This collector's edition can be purchased from the Square Enix Online Store if you live in the UK or France. Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX will be released on 2 December in North America and 5 December in Europe.

Square Enix has released a new trailer of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX showing the new features in the Final Mix versions of Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep. Both Final Mix versions will be included with cinematics of Kingdom Hearts Re:coded and will be released in North America on 2 December and Europe on 5 December.

It's already a couple of days after gamescom. The line-up from Square Enix was not really big this year and they focussed on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call. During the event Naoki Yoshida, producer and director of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn was present and players could play the game with him together. An other big event was the head-to-head battle between Yoshida and Ichiro Hazama, producer of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call playing the new Versus Mode of the game. Also games like Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX and Nosgoth were playable on the booth.

Square Enix has announced their games line-up for gamescom, a games trade fair in Cologne (Germany) that this year will take place from 13 till 17 August. This year Square Enix is focussing on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn with multiple booths that will be setup allowing 48 players to compete against Leviathan, Ramuh and Gilgamesh. On Saturday on 15:00 hours CEST a special head-to-head battle will be hosted between Naoki Yoshida, producer and director of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and Ichiro Hazama, producer of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call. They will be using the new Versus Mode of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call.

Square Enix has released the E3 2014 trailer of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX and has announced that this HD collection will be released on 2 December 2014 in North America and 5 December 2014 in Europe exclusively for PlayStation 3. Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX contains the HD remastered versions of Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix and movie scenematics of Kingdom Hearts re:coded.

The trailer also contains a teaser of Kingdom Hearts III, which is currently in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
