Nintendo has announced that Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies will be released in North America on 11 July 2010 and in Europe on 23 July 2010 exclusively on Nintendo DS.

The release will be one year after the release in Japan, where it sold over 4.2 million copies.

Nintendo has announced that they will parter up with Square Enix to release Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies this Summer in North America and Europe.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies has sold more than 4.15 million copies in Japan since its release back in July 2009. However, outside Japan the series aren't really a success. Is this the reason why they don't release the game themselves?

Square Enix has announced that the Japanese release date of Dragon Quest IX: Defenders of the Starry Sky has been delayed. The new release date is 11 July 2009 instead of 28 March 2009.

They said that the game still has too many bugs and that the game can't be released like this.

Square Enix has held a press conference today where they announced Dragon Quest IX: Hoshizora no Mamoribito (Protectors of the Starry Sky). The game will not be released on the next generation consoles, but on the Nintendo DS handheld. This will be the first game in the series that will be playable on a handheld.

The game will be made by Level 5, just like the previous Dragon Quest and will feature 3D graphics, 4 player option and will be more action related than the previous games.

The release is stated for somewhere in 2007.
