The Android version features improved graphics, which are a matter of taste if you like them or not. For a 1994 remake the download size is kind of huge; 493 MB. Also it has a rather high price tag; € 14,49 / £10.99. Please keep in mind that this version required at least Android 3.2 and not rooted, otherwise it won't work.

Square Enix

During the presentation of the recent release of Final Fantasy V for mobile devices and the announcement of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years for mobile devices Takashi Tokita had a little surprise at the end of the presentation. Final Fantasy VI will also be released on iOS and Android devices this Winter.

Final Fantasy VI logo

Final Fantasy VI will not be a straight port, but a remake in style of previous Final Fantasy releases for mobile devices with some enhancements. Like the battle system has been adjusted so you don't have to fight as much and can enjoy the game for what it is. The graphics will be optimised for mobile devices but are still in 2D.

At the end Kotaku asked Tokita if games like Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX or X will be included in the Legacy series. "If this Legacy project works out well, we would like to one day be able to work with VII."

Square Enix

To celebrate the upcoming release of Final Fantasy XIII-2 next week Square Enix has temporary reduced the price of Final Fantasy titles that are available in the European PlayStation Store.
