Guardian Forces
In Final Fantasy VIII Guardian Forces (or GFs for short) are just like summons, but they can not only be summoned. They can also learn abilities, make characters stronger, and get stronger themselves. Here's a list of all the GFs you can get in Final Fantasy VIII.
