After the release of the Grandia HD Collection on Nintendo Switch and PC in 2019, the collection is now also available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This version will be compatible with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, respectively.

Grandia HD Collection contains the first Grandia (Grandia HD Remaster) and Grandia II (Grandia II HD Remaster) with several new features listed below.

Grandia follows a young boy named Justin who dreams of becoming a great adventurer and uncovers a grand secret within the ancient Dom Ruins. Justin meets other adventurers who join him throughout his journey, and together they discover what lies beyond the End of the World.

Grandia II occurs eons after the battle of Good & Evil between the gods Granas and Valmar. The young mercenary Ryudo is tasked with protecting the acolyte Elena, a job that turns into a journey to protect the world from never-ending darkness.

Grandia has been developed by Game Arts (Thexder, Sylpheed, and Lunar) and released on the Sega Saturn back in 1997 in Japan only. In 1999 the game was ported to the PlayStation and was also released in North America by Sony and in Europe by Ubisoft (in 2000). Grandia II was first released on the Dreamcast in 2000 and has been ported to the PlayStation 2 and PC in 2002. In 2015 the Grandia II Anniversary Edition was released on Steam and GOG. That version was renamed to Grandia II HD Remaster in 2019.

Grandia HD Collection is now available for download in the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store. A physical version is available for pre-order in partnership with Limited Run Games until 14 April 2024.

GungHo Online Entertainment America has released patch 1.01.00 for Grandia HD Remaster and Grandia II Remaster for Steam and Nintendo Switch. The games are now available in Japan.

Update 25-03-2020: GungHo Online Entertainment America has released patch 1.01.01 for Grandia HD Remaster which fixes a lock-up where using Japanese language with English audio which caused the game to freeze after using magic/move.

GungHo Online Entertainment America has announced that they will release a patch for the Nintendo Switch version of Grandia HD Collection on 12 November 2019 after feedback and comments of the fans.

Further information about what the patch will include will be provided at a later date. The Nintendo Switch version was released on 16 August 2019 and contains several graphical and sound issues.

This however also delays the release of Grandia HD Remaster and Grandia II HD Remaster on PC, which is now set on 15 October 2019.

Gungho Online Entertainment America has revealed that Grandia I HD Remaster and Grandia II HD Remaster will be coming to the Nintendo Switch this winter. Gungho has released an updated version of Grandia II known as Grandia II Anniversary Edition on Steam back in 2015. Also the first Grandia will be released on Steam. At PAX West 2018, taking place from 31 August till 3 September in Seattle, a demo will be playable of Grandia II HD Remaster.

G-Mode has announced yesterday that its CEO Takeshi Miyaji has suddenly died on 29 July at the age of 45.

Takeshi Miyaji is known for his work at Gamearts who he founded at the age of 19 with his brother Yoichi. He worked on a number of classics inclusing Silpheed, Gun Griffon and the Grandia series.In 2000 he formed G-Mode.

His place will be taken over by Ryu Okoriyama of Gaia Holdings.

The European PlayStation Blog announced yesterday that as of today the classic RPG Grandia will be available for download for €7.99 / £6.29 on European PlayStation Network.
