January 2009

Here you can find news items that were posted on Hell and Heaven Net in the past.

The countdown on the official websites has finally stopped and the new trailer is now available for watching! The trailer contains new footage of the game that hasn't been showed before. The websites seem to be kinda overloaded at the moment, so I've uploaded the trailer to the website. I still have to find the English subs.

Star Ocean 4

Microsoft has released a new trailer from Star Ocean: The Last Hope. It appears to be the first English trailer from the game.

The game will be released on 19 February in Japan, 24 February in North America and 24 April in Europe.

You can watch the trailer here or watch the streaming version provided by Microsoft.

Update: The quality of the trailer has been improved and I've also uploaded the trailer to YouTube if you have problems watching it.

On the official North American and European website of Final Fantasy XIII a countdown timer is displayed. Still 5 days and 18 hours to go (next Wednesday) and something new should be revealed according to the website.

"The countdown has begun. A new vision will soon be revealed to the world. Register now to ensure you're there for the unveiling."

Rumors go that it might be a new trailer. Maybe its just the time before the websites open.

Star Ocean 4

Yesterday Square Enix has launched their official United States website about Star Ocean: The Last Hope. On the website you can now only find information about the characters and the storyline. Information about the gameplay, trailers and multimedia will be coming soon. Please bare in mind that you need a pretty good computer if you want to view this website, because its fully in flash.

Hell and Heaven Net

I've finally finished a new feature to Hell and Heaven Net called the History of Final Fantasy. If you're interested in how the Final Fantasy series began back in 1987 or why the game was called Final Fantasy, you should go and check it out.

The next I want to change is the main page. Instead of only displaying the news items, I also want to display some forum information and the poll will be back.

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete will be released on Blu-ray in Japan on 16 April. The Limited Edition will also have a demo of Final Fantasy XIII will be included. The Limited Edition will have a retail price of 5,900 yen ($65 USD or €49 EUR). Advent Children Complete will feature English voices, but the demo is most likely in Japanese. Too bad.

Square Enix has also announced that in Japan a special Advent Children PS3 will be released called 'Cloud Black'. It will contain a 160 GB PlayStation 3, the movie and the Final Fantasy XIII demo. The retail price will be 49,980 yen ($550 USD or €415 EUR).

Yesterday Reuters held an interview with the president of Square Enix, Yoichi Wada. In the interview Yoichi Wada said that Final Fantasy XIII will be released in Japan in 2009 exclusively for the PlayStation 3 and that the game will be released in North America and Europe for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the financial year 2010, that starts in April 2010.

Rumors were going around a few days ago that Final Fantasy XIII will get a worldwide release this year. I had my doubts about that already. This seems like a reasonable release, since translating the game takes a lot of time.

Square Enix has opened the official website of Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII. While the websites of Versus and Agito only shows a teaser, the Final Fantasy XIII has some information about the three main characters that were known thus far.

Also this week has been announced that Japan will get a Star Ocean: The Last Hope Xbox 360 bundle. The package contains a Xbox 360 Arcade, the game, a Star Ocean: The Last Hope original face plate and the Star Ocean Sound Best Collection soundtrack CD.
