Final Fantasy VII Remake

During Sony's State of Play, which was streamed yesterday, Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy VII Remake, which was released in April 2020 on PlayStation 4, will be getting a PlayStation 5 version called Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is an upgraded version of Final Fantasy VII Remake which features the following graphical, gameplay and system enhancements:

  • Immerse yourself in the city of Midgar like never before, with improved textures, lighting, and background environments. Players can switch between two game modes:
    • "Graphics Mode" prioritizes 4K high-resolution graphics
    • "Performance Mode" prioritizes smooth action at 60 frames per second
  • Capture and share your memorable moments from the game with a fully customizable “Photo Mode”
  • Enjoy immersive battles by using the DualSense wireless controller, with its haptic feedback integration, and enjoy dynamic bike racing with its adaptive triggers.
  • New difficulty settings for ‘Classic Mode’ provide new ways to play
  • Jump into the action faster with optimized loading times

Players who have purchased Final Fantasy VII Remake on PlayStation 4 will be getting the PlayStation 5 version for free. However you need the PlayStation 5 base edition (with the disc drive).

Also a brand-new episode has been announced featuring Yuffie as the main character. In this new adventure, play as ninja Yuffie Kisaragi as she infiltrates the shadowy Shinra Corporation to steal a powerful materia and restore glory to her homeland.

The Yuffie episode will be included with Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. It will also be available for purchase in the PlayStation Store for Final Fantasy VII Remake owners that upgraded to the PlayStation 5 version. It won't be available for the PlayStation 4.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be released on 10 June 2021 on PlayStation 5.

Alongside Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier Square Enix has announced another mobile game set in the world of Final Fantasy VII called Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis.

Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis is a single-player RPG that retells events from the original Final Fantasy VII along with the titles from the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus.

The game will be available for free with in-app purchases in 2022 for Android and iOS devices.

Square Enix has announced a new mobile game set in the world of Final Fantasy VII called Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier. This is a battle royal game which will be released on Android and iOS devices.

The game is set in Midgar before the events of Final Fantasy VII. As a SOLDIER candidate, the player will make full use of their magic and abilities in a battle for their survival.

Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier will be available in 2021 for free with in-app purchases.

Earlier this week during Nintendo Direct a remastered version has been announced of Legend of Mana that will be released on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Steam.

Stepping into the shoes of the protagonist, players will embark on a journey to find the mystical Mana Tree seen in a dream, only to discover that the world map is empty. Throughout their adventure, they will acquire special artifacts, which can be placed on the map to bring towns and dungeons to life via the Land Creation system. Players can progress through the story in different ways based on the choices they make, offering a more personal and unique gameplay experience.

Legend of Mana has been released in Japan in July 1999 on the PlayStation. In June 2000 the game was released in North America. It was never released in Europe.

The remastered version will feature improved visuals, a rearranged soundtrack, and the “Ring Ring Land'' mini-game which will be available to the West for the first time. It will be available digital only on 24 June 2021.

During the Nintendo Direct episode of 17 February 2021 Nintendo and Square Enix has announced a new tactical 2D HD RPG game in the same setting as Octopath Traveler with the working title Project Triangle Strategy.

In the full trailer several aspects of the game is shown. The battles take place on an isometric tactical grid, which looks a lot like Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre. The story is about three nations battle for control of the dwindling resources of salt and iron. During the story you have to make several choices, which will take you on a different path.

Project Triangle Strategy

Project Triangle Strategy will be released on Nintendo Switch in 2022. For fans who can't play to play this game, the debut demo can be downloaded from the Nintendo eShop.

Kingdom Hearts

Square Enix has announced that the Kingdom Hearts series is coming to PC via the Epic Games Store. This was announced earlier today at the Epic Games Store Spring Showcase 2021.

Final Fantasy XIV

Square Enix has unvealed Endwalker, the fourth expansion for Final Fantasy XIV Online. This was unvealed during the first Final Fantasy XIV Announcement Showcase that was streamed yesterday. Due to the COVID-19 pandanmic, the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival can not take place. The showcase was hosed by Naoki Yoshida, producer and director of Final Fantasy XIV Online.

Endwalker features the climax of the Hydaelyn and Zodiark story, in which Warriors of Light will encounter an even greater calamity than ever before as they travel to the far reaches of Hydaelyn and even to the moon. In addition to bringing the long-running story arc that began with A Realm Reborn to its conclusion, Endwalker will mark a new beginning for the beloved MMO, setting the stage for new adventures that longtime fans and new players can enjoy together.

The following new content and features were announced during the showcase:

  • Journey to Thavnair, the imperial capital of Garlemald, and even the Moon!

Endwalker is scheduled to the released this fall.

Also during the showcase the PlayStation 5 version of Final Fantasy XIV Online was announced, scheduled to launch into open beta on 13 April 2021. The PlayStation 5 version features a number of upgrades to the PlayStation 4 version like improved frame rates, faster load times and 4K resolution support. Players that have the PlayStation 4 version, may download the PlayStation 5 version free of charge at the start of the open beta period. The full version will be released at the end of the open beta period.
