That's right, Square-Enix has proven that Final Fantasy is recession proof. Opening day sales have ranked up to 100,000 copies worldwide. Of course, this does include all of the imports from people looking to pop the FFXIII demo disc into their PS3. The blu-ray version of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children has sold more than three times any other anime released on blu-ray.

The movie itself features both Japanese and English audio tracks. With the Final Fantasy XIII trial having a heavy contribution in these figures, the demo only features a Japanese language and subtitle track.

When the blu-ray hits North American shores on June 2nd, it will be interesting to see how sales compare against it's Japanese counterpart that included a trial to the most anticipated RPG of all time. Stay tuned to see where this goes.

The blu-ray version of the hit FINAL FANTASY VII: ADVENT CHILDREN from Square-Enix hits Japanese shelves this coming thursday. Sony Pictures has contracted the North American release to come this summer. North America's blu-ray version ships June 1, 2009.

The NA version will not include a Final Fantasy XIII trial, however it is expected to have some Final Fantasy XIII trailers included. While none of these trailers are expected to be exclusive to this release, it will be rendered to show what the game looks like so far on HD playback.

Amazon is now accepting pre-orders. So, what are you waiting for? Pre-order your copy today!

Square-Enix has released the North American trailer for the Blu-ray edition of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, accompanied by the subtitle "Complete", which revealed the North American release date to be the same as the Japanese region! In a previous statement, Square-Enix noted that the Final Fantasy XIII trial was exclusive to the Japanese version of the Blu-ray remake, yet no official word on a NA Final Fantasy XIII trial has been made.

The announcement of the movie's European release date has yet to be revealed.

Update: The trailer has been removed, since it is a fake. There's no American release date.

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete will be released on Blu-ray in Japan on 16 April. The Limited Edition will also have a demo of Final Fantasy XIII will be included. The Limited Edition will have a retail price of 5,900 yen ($65 USD or €49 EUR). Advent Children Complete will feature English voices, but the demo is most likely in Japanese. Too bad.

Square Enix has also announced that in Japan a special Advent Children PS3 will be released called 'Cloud Black'. It will contain a 160 GB PlayStation 3, the movie and the Final Fantasy XIII demo. The retail price will be 49,980 yen ($550 USD or €415 EUR).

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

If you read the report on the Square-Enix booth, then you already know this, but the company has announced a new version of Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children with the subtitle 'Complete', and it came complete with a new trailer to show off some of the changes in the movie. This version of Advent Children will be on Sony's Blu-Ray media, and as the title suggests, it's going to be somewhat of a director's cut. Not only will the resolution be much higher than the DVD version, but Square Enix will be adding scenes and making changes to existing scenes. One new scene shown during the presentation was Sephiroth impaling Cloud and hoisting him over his head while his Masamune was still embedded inside of him, much like in Final Fantasy 7 for the PSOne.

No word on a solid release date yet but the trailer did indicate a Japanese release sometime in 2007. We'll have more information as it becomes available.
