Gold Saucer

In Final Fantasy VII you can pay a visit to the Gold Saucer. It's a theme park close to North Corel. There you can play games, do battles etc. By winning those games you can earn GP (only in the Chocobo and Wonder Square). It cost Gil though.

¤ Chocobo Square

Here you can bet on a chocobo who you think is gonna win. But later in the game you can race on your own chocobo that you captured and breed in the Chocobo Farm. You can earn rare items and materia when winning a chocobo race. You can also get GP instead of the winning item.

¤ Wonder Square

At the Wonder Square you can enter mini-games that you already had in the storyline. Here's the list.

- G-Bike
Cost: 200 Gil
Reward: x GP
This game is like the bike race at the end of Midgar early in the game. Protect the van by hitting Shinra soldiers to get them off their bike.

- Snowboarding
Cost: 200 Gil
Reward: N/A
Collect as many balloons and set a sharp time on the 3 courses available and also a time trial.

 - Submarine
Cost: 200 Gil
Reward: 20 GP
Hunt down enemy subs as fast as possible. There are different levels available.

 - Basketball
Cost: 200 Gil
Reward: x GP
Score goals by throwing balls into the target.

 - Fortune Telling
Cost: 50 Gil
Reward: N/A
The machine gives you random fortunes.

 - Arm Wrestling
Cost: 100 or 200 Gil
Reward: 1 or 2 GP
Arm wrestle an opponent by hitting the O button, but do it fast!

 - Mog's House
Cost: 100 Gil
Reward: 30 GP
You must help Mog to let him fly and try to find his girlfriend. You have to give him the right amount of Kupo Nuts.

 - Virtual Battle
Cost: 200 Gil
Reward: 20 GP
Fight an opponent. You have 3 options for attack and defence: high, medium and low.

You can exchange your GP at the lady up front:

¤ Battle Square

At the battle square you can fight against enemies. You have to pay 10 GP to battle. The amount of BP you can earn depends on how far you can get defeating enemies. Every time when you defeat a enemy the message "Great!", and your current BP will be displayed on the right side of the screen. You will be asked if you wish to keep going, and given 2 choices: "Off Course!!" or "No Way".  When you go on a slot will spin to select your handicap. The maximum is 8, so go for it. The BP you earn can be changed for goodies, but be warned: When you leave the Battle Square your BP is gone, remind that! Here are the prices you can earn exchanging BP:

¤ Ghost Square

Here you can rest at a hotel and buy some items in the shop.

¤ Round Square

At the round square you can ride the gondola to view the Gold Saucer from above.

¤ Speed Square

Here you can ride a roller coaster and with a laser gun you can shoot flying objects. One game cost 10 GP. When you get between 3000 and 4999 points you receive Masamune, Super Sweeper or 1/35 soldier. More then 5000 points will give you Umbrella (Disc 1) or Flayer (Disc 2+3).

¤ Event Square

The event square is a set were they perform a act. This is only when you have received the Keystone from the Temple of the Ancients and then go out on a 'date' with Aeris.
