During the latest Sony's State of Play Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, the remastered version of Final Fantasy Tactics released back in 1997 on the Sony PlayStation.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles includes two different versions of the game: enhanced and classic. The enhanced version adds fully voiced dialogue, an optimized and updated UI, graphical improvements, and a number of other quality of life features. The classic version unites the graphics and gameplay of the original game with the renowned War of the Lions translation and includes convenient features such as auto save.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles will be released on 30 September 2025 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam.

Square Enix has announced that the remake of Dragon Quest and Dragon Quest II titled Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will be released on 30 October 2025. Also 9 screenshots of the games have been revealed.

Dragon Quest, which was first released today 39 years ago, on 27 May 1986, on the Famicom (Nintendo Entertainment System outside of Japan), is the first game in the Dragon Quest series. The player controls the hero character who is charged with saving the Kingdom of Alefgard and rescuing its princess from the evil Dragonlord. Dragon Quest II, which was released in 1987 n the Famicom, takes place 100 years later and starts with an evil wizard named Hargon destroying Moonbrooke Castle. Dragon Quest III, which received a HD-2D version last year, is chronologically the first game in The Erdrick Trilogy.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will be released on 30 October 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on Windows.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

During the latest Nintendo Direct Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2.

In Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, players follow the story of ex-SOLDIER operative turned mercenary, Cloud Strife, as he lends his aid to the underground resistance group Avalanche in the mako-powered city of Midgar. In the fight against the shadowy Shinra Electric Power Company, Cloud and his comrades are thrust into a larger conflict to determine the fate of the planet.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade also includes FF7R Episode INTERmission, an additional episode you play as ninja Yuffie Kisaragi as she infiltrates the shadowy Shinra Corporation to steal a powerful materia and restore glory to her homeland.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is currently in development for Nintendo Switch 2. A release date will be announced soon.

During the latest Nintendo Direct Square Enix has announced SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered, an enhanced version of SaGa Frontier 2, and is now available.

SaGa Frontier 2 is a role playing game in the SaGa series where you experience the intertwined fates of Gustave, a royal heir caught in a struggle for power, and Wil, a fledgling excavator confronting a hidden world-threatening danger.The game was released in 1999 on the PlayStation in Japan and in 2000 in North America and Europe.

SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered key features include:

  • Fully Enhanced HD Visuals — The game’s signature warm watercolor-style graphics and are more defined and vibrant, and original character sprites are upscaled for modern resolutions. New sprites have been prepared for characters who did not have unique sprites in the original game.
  • Revamped UI — History Choice, chronology, a revamped screen layout and a multitude of other gameplay systems have been reconstructed to facilitate more intuitive and comfortable gameplay.
  • Brand-New Story Content — Under the supervision of SaGa Franchise General Director Akitoshi Kawazu, Benny Matsuyama introduces new story events that provide additional insight into the events of SaGa Frontier 2.
  • New Gameplay Features — Added elements like Parameter Inheritance, postgame content and New Game+ make for an enhanced and expanded gameplay experience.
  • New Minigame for Western Fans — The excavation minigame, created for the Japan-exclusive PocketStation peripheral for the PlayStation, is playable in the west for the first time as ‘Dig! Dig! Digger’ in SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered.

During the latest Nintendo Direct Square Enix has revealed a new gameplay trailer for Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, the remake of Dragon Quest I & II in the HD-2D graphic style.

The new trailer showed off gameplay for the first time, as players take control of the descendants of Erdrick, the legendary hero whose legacy is passed down through generations in these games.

Square Enix has recently announced on social media two milestones for the Final Fantasy series.

First, Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series has sold over 5 million copies worldwide. And second the Final Fantasy series has sold over 200 million copies across the globe! "Wherever you joined us on our adventures, thank you.", the message ends.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is a collection containing Final Fantasy I-VI 2D remastered. It has been announced in June 2021 during Square Enix Presents Summer Showcase and the first three Final Fantasy games were released in July 2021 on Steam and mobile platforms. Later also the other three games were released and also the games have been released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series X/S.

It all began in 1987. Square was almost on the edge of going out of business after releasing several unsuccessful games for the Famicon (NES). Hironobu Sakaguchi developed a game based on Enix's Dragon Quest and named it Final Fantasy, while it might be the last game Square would be developing. The game became a massive success.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

After the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PlayStation 5 in February 2024, the game is now also available on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

Square Enix has recently released a patch update for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth that adds a new mode for the PlayStation 5 Pro that was released last Thursday.

Version 1.050 introduces Versatility Mode, which combines the characteristics of the existing Performance Mode (60 FPS) and Graphics Mode (high resolution). Versatility Mode is only available on PlayStation 5 Pro.

The patch also contains fixes for some bugs and improvements in functionality and stability.

During the Xbox Games Showcase at Tokyo Game Show 2024 Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster, Legend of Mana and Trails of Mana are now available digitally on Xbox Series X/S.

The Final Fantasy pixel remaster series comprises Final Fantasy I through Final Fantasy VI, bringing all the magic of the originals combined with quality-of-life upgrades while staying faithful to the retro design of these classic masterpieces. In the Final Fantasy pixel remaster series, features that were implemented in the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam versions, will also be available for the Xbox platforms. Players will have the option to switch between the rearranged and original-based soundtrack for the game, as well as a choice of in-game fonts where players can opt to play using the game’s default font or a pixel-based font. Additional boost features to expand gameplay options, including switching off random encounters and adjusting experience gained multipliers between 0 and 4 will also be available for the Xbox players.

Legend of Mana
Legend of Mana is the remastered edition of the fourth installment in the Mana series. In Legend of Mana, players will embark on a journey to find the mystical Mana Tree seen in a dream, only to discover that the world map is empty. Throughout their adventure, players will acquire special artifacts, which can be placed on the map to bring towns and dungeons to life via the unique Land Creation system. Legend of Mana features remastered visuals and rearranged soundtrack, which can be switched with original soundtrack. The game also includes the feature to turn off enemy encounters and the ‘Ring Ring Land’ mini game, which helps to strengthen pet monsters. During their travels, players will encounter a colorful cast of characters, square off against fearsome monsters in real-time combat and explore the vast world of Fa’Diel, all while experiencing Legend of Mana’s timeless story.

Trials of Mana
Originally released in Japan as Seiken Densetsu 3 in 1995, Trials of Mana is a full, high-definition remake of the third entry in the classic Mana series. The game immerses players in an unforgettable adventure filled with exciting gameplay, memorable heroes and villains. Players will craft varying experiences by selecting a party of three from six unique characters as they embark on the adventure of a lifetime, upgrading their characters’ classes into more powerful forms, learning over 300 different abilities, and discovering a world of secrets and mysteries to explore.
