At the E3 it was revealed that Final Fantasy Type-0 will get a HD version on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. During PAX an interviewer of IGN asked Hajime Tabata, director of the game, asked why it isn't coming to PlayStation Vita. Tabata's answer a bit vague, but he kept circling around to the idea of his excitement of finally being able to play through the portable game on the big screen, on new hardware, and the fact that it’ll now be able to get out to a much wider audience.

Tabata assured that Final Fantasy Type-0 will be a full retail game and that is it currently about 80% done.

An other big event was the head-to-head battle between Yoshida and Ichiro Hazama, producer of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call playing the new Versus Mode of the game. Also games like Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX and Nosgoth were playable on the booth.

Square Enix has launched Drakengard 3 yesterday in North America and today in Europe. In this prequel to the original Drakengard you play as Zero, the eldest of six "Intoner" sisters who wield special magical abilities. Zero is on a quest to murder her five sisters with the help of her dragon companion, Mikhail.

Drakengard 3 is now available in a normal version and a collector's edition In North America. Europe have to do with a download version only (they did release a CE here, but with a download voucher ...). You can watch the launch trailer of the game which Square Enix revealed today.

Sony Computer Entertainment has announced today that they are selling all their 9,520,000 Square Enix shares to a company called SMBC Nikko Securities. This will generate an income of 15.3 billion yen, around $ 150 million USD / € 108 million which will be marked down Sony's financial report for the year ending 31st March 2015.

Sony is lately in severe financial weather and this is a financial boost for the company. This marks the seperation of a long partnership that resulted in a strong presence of the Final Fantasy series on PlayStation hardware over the years.

What the exact reason is for the sale is unknown.

17-04 Update: Sale price was incorrect and has been updated after Sony's announcement.

Square Enix has announced that Europe will also get a Collector's Edition for Drakengard 3 that will be limited to 2,000 copies only and can only be purchased from the Square Enix Store. The Collector's Edition will be priced at € 69.99 and will contains the following items:

Drakengard 3 Collector's Edition Europe

  • Clamshell Box
An eloquent display case featuring the flower that grows from Zero’s eye.
  • Hardback Novella
This beautifully illustrated 160 page prequel story to Drakengard 3 (available in English language only) contains a collection of short stories written from the perspectives of each character.
  • Add-on Pack
Downloadable tokens for the Ciam costume, an additional level where you play as One, Zero’s sister, and a Giant Baby Hat (yes, an enormous baby’s head for your dragon, Mikhail).
  • Music Sampler CD
A CD containing a selection of mesmerising tracks from the game’s original soundtrack, composed by Keiichi Okabe (who also created the score for Nier).
  • Double Sided Poster
A collectable double sided poster only available in the Collector’s Edition of Drakengard 3.
  • The Game
While there won’t be a physical disc version of the Drakengard 3 for Europe and PAL territories, a download token will be included inside the box which you can redeem on the PlayStation Store.
  • Japanese Voice DLC
Experience the game in its original audio with a download token for the original Japanese voice acting! This DLC will also be available for non-CE owners.

It was earlier announced that Europe won't be getting a physical copy of Drakengard 3. So why this Collector's Edition for a lot of money (if you ask me) with a download voucher? We, fans want a physical copy.

Square Enix

Square Enix has announced in the new trailer of Drakengard 3 that the game will be released in North America on 20 May and in Europe and other PAL territories a day later (on 21 May). Next to the physical copy of the game North America will receive a collector's edition and bonus items when pre-ordering the game. Europe will have to live with a digital download of the game only which disappoints a lot of fans. Since the PlayStation 3 is region free, European fans and fans in other PAL territories can import the North American version.
